Boulder, CO / US 36 / Interlocken

Boulder is an upscale town near Denver that has a cap limiting growth and development. A very unique and independent feeling prevails in Boulder, which is home to CU Boulder, one of the state's largest universities.

US 36 is a turnpike that connects the cities of Denver and Boulder. Believe it or not, some people live in Boulder and commute daily to Denver, and vice versa. Others commute to Interlocken, which is a freeway business park on US-36.

Boulder page 1

One of the tallest buildings in town, due to the height restrictions. Of course, this beauty was constructed in the '70s, with beautiful '70s architecture, before the restrictions were created.

I suppose the restrictions on growth and height exist because Boulder is a very desirable place to live, so lawmakers are trying to make it more difficult to make the city explode with development and get "ruined".

Pearl St. Mall. A pedestrian mall. No Boulder picture collection is complete without numerous photos of this area.

Note the bike that is being wheeled through the mall. Boulder was a '70s hippie gathering place. (Stereotype, yes, but it is true, which is why there are songs such as "I'd rather be in Colorado" and others produced during Vietnam). The liberal feelings have never left the city, and everyone seems to be outdoor oriented. In fact, I took these photos after biking for a day.

I don't know. Maybe everyone rides bikes around because they're university students who don't need cars.

It's a popular, busy mall. Possibly even more so than Denver's 16th St. Mall, even though it is smaller. (At least more people per square foot, if that's a fair measurement. It's a subjective measurement.)

Yep.
